At the Nature’s Watch
The big brands as the major influencers of tomorrow bear the responsibility of spreading the need for sustainability as a response to the alarming depletion in nature and its resources. Quite a few luxury brands have already started walking in the direction of this revolution. Chopard is a luxury watch brand that has, for starters, started using ethical gold for the plates in the dials. Ethical gold is the gold that’s obtained from sustainable and verified resources that work to meet the international environmental standards. Cartier is another such watch brand that has inculcated a new sustainable practice for the manufacturing of their watches by minimising the use of water, energy and other toxic materials. Breguet, a Swiss watch brand has established a partnership with the Race of water foundation to raise awareness about the ocean’s plastic pollution. Bvlgari, a product of the LVMH group has made it a point to take forward the 2030 Sustainability agenda by making efforts to tackle poverty, environmental problems and other issues prevalent in the society. The efforts from these luxury brands reflect their understanding of the market, with an eye and a vision for a better future that’s not doomed by lack of resources.
